Reporting breaches of the Code

The University does not tolerate breaches of the Staff Code of Conduct (the Code). It is the responsibility of all University officers, including employees, Council members, adjuncts and contractors, to report suspected breaches in accordance with the Internal reporting procedures below. Where certain threshold criteria are met, external reporting obligations may also exist. Refer to External reporting obligations below.

Internal reporting procedures

If you have a concern about a breach of the Code in the course of the University’s operations, report it to the Pro Vice Chancellor: Student Engagement and Equity, the Director: Student and Academic Services, the Executive Director: People, Talent and Culture or a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team. Do not attempt to investigate the matter yourself.

The University supports the provisions of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018 in relation to internal reporting. Procedures will be put in place to guard against the unnecessary disclosure of your identity, and to guide the process of investigation and handling of any reported matters.

External reporting obligations - Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC)

The Independent Commission Against Corruption Act 2012 came into effect on 1 September 2013. This act makes it mandatory for University officers to report acts or behaviour that they reasonably suspect constitutes corruption or 'serious or systemic' misconduct or maladministration in relation to our operations to the Office of Public Integrity (OPI).

See the ICAC website for further information.
