Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is about enjoying and fully participating in life through meaningful activities and fulfilling relationships. It's about dealing with life's challenges effectively and being resilient enough to bounce back when things don't go well. Mental wellbeing is also about using your abilities and strengths to reach your full potential and feeling a sense of purpose about the things that you do.

UniSA initiatives

Our goal is to raise awareness and understanding of mental health in the workplace so that our people can be supported in the workplace while they manage their illness. UniSA's Staff Wellbeing Program now offers two 30 minute Mental Health modules online (previously three modules) with new and updated information and an engaging interface:

  • Building Healthy Coping Skills
  • Understanding Mental Health Issues in your Team

To access this program through the BUPA Lifeskills modules,  register using a new username and password (do NOT use your UniSA password).

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) courses are promoted to staff each year.  Please contact lindsay.sportmann@unisa.edu.au and watch this MHFA 1-minute video for more information if you're interested in attending. You can find more information on their website on promoting positive mental health practices in the workplace

There are additional development and education options available that support mental health and enhance individual capabilities. See the Mental Health and Wellbeing Toolkit for more information.

Resilience @ Work wellbeing-apple-blue-sml.png

Resilience @ Work means having the capacity to manage everyday work demands and remain healthy. It is being able to regroup and take positive insight from unexpected setbacks and be proactive about preparing for future challenges. Resilience is key to feeling productive and positive, particularly when working through periods of change.

R@W model
There is a self-assessment survey attached to the ‘Resilience @ Work’ model enabling individuals to gain personal insight to their own responses to the 7 elements of workplace resilience. If you would like to understand how you are currently managing the 7 elements of workplace resilience completing the 10—15-minute survey will generate your own personal and confidential report. The report will be debriefed with you by one of our UniSA resilience coaches. Your report will only be seen by you and your coach and the coaching session will also remain confidential. If you are interested in learning more about the ‘Resilience at Work’ model, you can visit the R@W website.

How to Access
If you're interested in a 1:1 coaching and profile debrief please contact lindsay.sportmann@unisa.edu.au
