Your accommodation rights and responsibilities
We know this has been a tough year for a lot of you. If you've been impacted financially as a result of COVID-19 and you are currently renting, make sure you’re aware of your rights as a tenant. Here are some quick tips on what you can do in these situations:
If you’re unable to pay rent...
due to the loss of income or employment, your landlord can't evict you. Get in touch with your landlord to discuss your situation and set up a written and signed payment plan. Make sure you keep records about your changed circumstances.
If you’re unable to return to South Australia...
due to the travel ban, you can negotiate with your landlord for flexibility with your rental agreement, such as rent reduction or lease transfer. Make sure you get your landlord’s agreement in writing.
More information on rental advice due to COVID-19 can be found on the Consumer and Business Services website. Remember, you can always chat to UniSA’s Accommodation Services if you're having problems with your accommodation, or just need a bit of advice.

Study Help PALS answer your study FAQs
It's that time of the study period again when assignment due dates are looming and you might be feeling a bit stuck. Our Study Help PALS are current students who understand the challenges of study and can offer suggestions to help you do your best at uni.

We chatted to our Study Help PALS to find out their top study FAQs to help you get started:
How do I reference?
The first step we always suggest is to check with your course coordinator about what referencing style you need to use. For most courses, the default is UniSA Harvard; however, there are other styles that can be used such as APA, Chicago, IEEE, MLA and Legal Citation. The Study Help Referencing page can be your one-stop-shop for all things referencing and provides helpful referencing links.
How do I get started on an assignment?
If you’re struggling to start an assignment, you can go to the Assignments section on the Study Help Site for a range of tips. It will give you a range of resources, from understanding different assignment types to general writing tips. If you’re struggling to understand the question, there’s even a specific resource to help break down the question into its parts, making it easier to understand.
How do I find study resources?
While each discipline has their own database or requirements for finding resources, developing search techniques will greatly increase your chances to find the resources you need. The UniSA Library offers some excellent tools to help develop search techniques and are useful with most databases or libraries you’ll interact with! If you’re struggling to find words connected to your topic, try coupling the search techniques with our assignment planning tools.
If you have more questions or would just like to have a chat, our Study Help PALS are available for drop-in sessions through SP5. Sessions are run via Zoom from Monday to Friday 12pm-2pm and at various times on-campus at Whyalla Campus.
