You might remember that at the end of study period two, we asked you to give us some feedback on our newsletter by completing a short survey. Not only did it provide us with some valuable insights on what you find useful, but there were also some great suggestions to make our newsletter more engaging. We’ve now taken on board some of the suggestions and we’re excited to introduce a new feature called ‘Puzzle Corner’, which will appear on every second edition from this week onwards, giving you a chance to score one of five $20 gift cards every month!

Learn about consent and respectful relationships on our new interactive online training
Lots of students form relationships at uni. It is often a time for exploring, but with new experiences come new responsibilities. For many people, asking for consent can feel uncomfortable, yet respect and consent are essential ingredients for any relationship.

As part of UniSA’s commitment to safe campus communities, we encourage you to access a new online training module on Consent and Respectful Relationships where you will learn about:
• Respect and respectful communication within relationships
• What consent is, how to identify when it has been given, and situations where it can’t be given
• What sexual assault and sexual harassment are, and available support options

All students who complete the module before 31 October 2023 will have the chance to win a $20 Coles Myer gift card.

To find out more about what UniSA is doing to prevent sexual assault and sexual harassment (SASH) and to access information and support, visit the SASH website.

Student tips: Journey to a healthy lifestyle
Working a day job, pursuing a full-time MBA, and living alone while discovering and pursuing your passions demands a lot of time and focus. There are days when I am overloaded with emotions and feelings, but I realised, these are part of growing up. I need to find peace in my own body and mind. For me, it is about building a lifestyle that ensures my physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. A lifestyle with a fusion of discipline, determination, and consistency.

Here are a few things that will help you on your health journey:
• Prioritise mindful eating rather than cutting out on your favourite foods
• Move your body for at least 30 minutes
• Cook your own food (meal prep – this will change your life)
• Ensure 7-8 hours of sound sleep
• Celebrate your small wins
• Read a book

Remember, if today was difficult for you, I hope you know that tomorrow can be better.

Take charge of your mental health at the ASPIRE wellbeing workshop
Things can be pretty stressful at any time of the year, but this can be more so as you approach the busy period of assessments and exams. It’s normal to be feeling a bit stressed, but when should we check in with ourselves, or a friend or colleague we’re worried about? And how do we do it?

Join batyr for a special ASPIRE wellbeing online workshop, where you'll be having positive conversations about mental health and wellbeing, and normalising that it’s okay not to be okay. Hear from a lived experience speaker, learn about how to take charge of your own mental health and look out for others in an interactive session where you will gain practical skills for yourself and your professional toolkit.

Wednesday 30 August I 4.30pm – 5.30pm I Online
Monday 30 October I 1.00pm – 2.00pm I Online

These workshops will also count towards the ASPIRE Award.
