Student Ambassador Program

Overview of the program

The University of South Australia’s Student Ambassador Program provides current students with the opportunity to represent the university through various events and activities. This volunteer opportunity involves promoting the university from a current student’s perspective and you’ll benefit by developing your interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

Who can become a Student Ambassador?

You can become a Student Ambassador if you’re a current UniSA student and have completed at least one year full-time or part-time equivalent of university study. The qualities we look for in a Student Ambassador include:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Confidence with a willingness to learn
Enthusiastic, friendly and approachable
Punctual, flexible and reliable
Well presented

To become a student ambassador, you must not have a disciplinary record, be charged or under investigation by the University judicial system.

Student Ambassadors

What is the role?

Student Ambassadors participate in various activities throughout the one-year program. Below are some tasks you may assist with:
- Provide prospective students and their parents with an insight into university life and study opportunities based on your own experiences
- Communicate with people of all ages to encourage, motivate and inspire them to commence, continue and complete their studies successfully
- Participate in Open Day, Magill and Mawson Lakes Campus Days, campus tours and interactive workshops (where relevant), or other events requested by your student ambassador program coordinator
- Join in promotional photo shoots or video
- Write student testimonials and engage and activities with our social media accounts

What are the benefits for you?

You will be able to:

Further develop your interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
Work in a team with your peers and other UniSA Student Ambassadors
Improve your employability and add to your resume
Use the program to count towards your UniSA+ Leadership and Enterprise pillar (if you’d like to pursue UniSA+, you may apply for this separately through the Student Engagement Unit)

You will also be provided with:

A University of South Australia polo top and name badge
The opportunity to participate in various university wide events
A certificate of recognition from the Vice Chancellor
End of year thank you function

What is the commitment?

To participate in the Student Ambassador program, students must:

Be able to commit to the program for the entire year and participate in a minimum of 3 events
Attend any required training sessions and meetings
Provide a copy of a current National Police Clearance or Working with Children Check from the Department of Human Services. If you do not have either, the University will cover the cost for you to obtain a National Police Clearance.
