Good practice guidelines

At UniSA we wish to take a consistent approach to all our student mentoring programs and we follow the principles outlined in the Australia and New Zealand Student Support Association (ANZSSA) Guidelines for Good Practice in Peer Mentor programs in Higher Education.

Starting a mentoring program

Starting a new program is straightforward. As minimum, you should prepare a program overview, including the following items:

• Measurable program aims and objectives, aimed at both participants and the University:
• Benefits to mentors and mentees;
• Recognition and/or incentives for mentors and mentees;
• Mentor and mentee recruitment and training processes and timelines, including minimum criteria for becoming a mentor;
• Contact details for enquiries and to respond to issues arising.

Promoting a mentoring program
