Security@UniSA – Join the virtual community

We’re all aware of the different threats that we’re exposed to working within the Higher Education sector.

Often different areas of the University receive various security advisory information that should be communicated widely. It is common that this information requires attention in a timely manner to reduce exposure to the associated risks.

So to keep up to date, a Microsoft virtual community Team has been created called Security@UniSA.  The intent is for this virtual space to be used by staff to provide timely security advisory information. All staff have access to MS Teams and everyone is encouraged to join this virtual space.

If you’re unfamiliar with how to find and join a team within MS Teams, it is simple. Start by opening the Microsoft Team app on your computer and then:

  • Select Teams button > “Join or create a team” at the bottom of the teams list.
  • Type “Security” in the search box at the top right and press Enter.
  • Then click on "Join team" on the Security@UniSA team.

If you would like to ensure you get all alerts via email, you can switch this functionality on by doing the following:

  1. Click on the Security@UniSA team
  2. Click on the channel “Security Advisory Information” and select More options > Channel notifications > All Activity
  3. Click on your profile picture in the top right of the app, then select Settings > Notifications.
  4. Set the following items:
    • Channel mentions =  “Banner and email”
    • Chat messages =  “Banner and email”
    • Followed channels =  “Banner and email”
    • Missed activity emails =  “As soon as possible”
